With the conversion to European Emission Standard (Euro) 6, Ford has equipped the Transit and Transit Custom with a two-liter diesel engine. Ford will present its new models at the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover.
The new power unit will replace the previous 2.3-liter engine. Every engine performance is heightened by up to 15 hp, attaining up to approximately 50 newton meters during maximum engine torque. The power stages are 105, 140, and 170 hp; the values of maximum engine torque are 360, 385, and 405 Nm.
Newton Meter Automatic on its Way
The engines which have already been driven and tested by trans aktuell are satisfying even at entry-level. An upcoming automatic transmission with six switching steps will compliment the manual six-gear shift. Euro 6 requirements for the new power unit are accomplished by selective catalytic reduction (SCR) purification and enhanced fuel injection. Safety assistance systems of the cargo vans, too, are now in tune with the latest developments. A standard-fitting crosswind assistance works with targeted brake intervention via electronic stability program (ESP) sensors. Supplements are systems for traffic sign recognition and collision warning, which also identifies pedestrians.
